There is an insert in the middle of these pillows, with the chunky knit yarn wrapped around it.  These are NOT fully firm.
I'd say they are about a medium between firmness and softness (think of pillows that are firm and sit up vs pillows that sink down-these are in the middle) and can also be molded to the shape you prefer.
